Jackets-Coats-Suits

At The Vintage Pattern Shop, we offer our clientele the opportunity to buy realistic vintage patterns to produce your own unique pieces. When it comes to jackets, coats, and suits, we have twelve different options, including those that come with patterns for co-ordinating skirts and dresses.

In the 1930s, women’s coats were often sold as two-piece suits in the spring, falling just a few inches above the dress or skirt, featuring wide lapels and big fur collars (which were commonly detachable). Jackets and coats would follow the shape of the garments underneath, aiming for a defined high waist, and full shoulders. Popular colours would be rich emerald greens, wine reds, dark browns, creams, and medium blues. Rubber raincoats were a popular trend, and other fabrics that commonly featured during this period included wool, velvet and tweed. They would be worn open, as you can see from some of the swagger coat and cape patterns, but also buttoned up between the centre and off-centre.
